Google Maps gets 10 new updates in India

Google on Thursday (November 6, 2025) announced 10 new updates for the Google Maps in India which includes conversational Gemini integration, proactive alerts and easier travel management. These new updates to the Maps will be available for both Android and iOS users.
With the Gemini’s integration into the Maps, riders can converse with Gemini while driving, and ask about hotels/restaurants on the route, their ratings. Gemini will also summarise the info for them for an easy access on the go. Riders can also ask questions and get reply from it like parking space availability. Users can also connect to their other apps like Gmail and Calendar and adds the place automatically.
Gemini will proactively analyse and summarise Maps reviews and web content to give users helpful, pointed and practical tips about a place while they check it out on Maps.

Google said that Maps will further alert users about accident-prone area and speed limit alerts in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. India is one of the first markets, along with the U.S. to get it. It will also get real-time highway data from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which can be used for sending proactive disruption alerts to riders in the route or area.
The accident-prone area alert is coming to Android users in Gurugram, Cyberabad region in Hyderabad, Chandigarh, and Faridabad.
Maps will also display the official speed limit in speedometer in the app. This is rolling out to both Android and iOS users in 9 Indian cities, including Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, Hyderabad (including Cyberabad), Jaipur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Noida.
Maps will now also provide a new customisable two-wheeler avatar for the riders to navigate the route. They can opt for classic motorbikes, sports bikes, or scooters, in eight colours. This will be coming over the coming weeks, first to Android users across India. They will also get voice guidance for flyovers in 9 Indian languages.
For travel management, Maps will allow users to access their metro via Google Wallet. Users can now save purchased tickets directly to Google Wallet and access them from Maps when they need them.
