OnePlus India CEO Robin Liu on Wednesday (January 21, 2026) denied reports claiming that the smartphone maker was shutting down operations in the country.

A day earlier, an outlet called Android Headlines published a story claiming that OnePlus was being “dismantled,” citing factors such as falling shipments, lowered demand in India, and undelivered commitments. An editor stated in a note that they chose to “use AI assistance in structuring this article” but claimed that their investigation was legitimate.

However, OnePlus responded to multiple speculative reports that made similar claims of a business shutdown.

“I wanted to address some misinformation that has been circulating about OnePlus India and its operations. We’re operating as usual and will continue to do so. Never Settle.,” Liu posted on social media platform X on January 21, along with a graphic.

The image post stated: “Recent unverified reports claiming OnePlus is shutting down are false. OnePlus India’s business operations continue as normal. We urge all stakeholders to verify information from official sources before sharing unsubstantiated claims.”

However, OnePlus has faced recent challenges in India, with a November 2025 report by the International Data Corporation (IDC) noting that the OnePlus unit market change in India was down by 30.5% year-over-year between the third quarters of 2024 and 2025, respectively.
