LG Electronics is set to redefine the premium TV landscape with the debut of its first-ever flagship RGB television, the LG Micro RGB evo, which will be officially unveiled at CES 2026. The new model underscores LG’s ambition to push LCD performance beyond current MiniLED standards. The launch signals a major milestone for the company as it brings OLED-derived precision into the RGB TV category.

An RGB TV refers to a television that uses separate red, green, and blue light sources to create colour, rather than relying on white light filtered into colours. An “RGB TV” in this context is related to a specific backlight architecture that is used in advanced LCD televisions.

At the core of the LG Micro RGB evo is a significant evolution in Micro RGB technology, using LG TV’s smallest individual RGB LEDs combined with OLED-level control over each backlight. According to LG, this display will be render sharper, more natural imagery that delivers heightened clarity and immersion across all types of content.

This processing capability enables what LG calls RGB Primary Colour Ultra, a technology that delivers a full spectrum of colour reproduction. The Micro RGB evo is said to represent the highest level of colour accuracy currently possible. Such performance is aimed at professionals and enthusiasts alike, supporting applications ranging from digital content creation and HDR cinema to emerging next-generation display technologies.

Contrast and brightness are further enhanced through Micro Dimming Ultra, which precisely controls more than a thousand dimming zones across the panel. LG says this system allows the TV to pinpoint light and color with exceptional accuracy, revealing fine details in both shadowed and brightly lit scenes. The company positions this as delivering class-leading contrast performance among LCD televisions.

Beyond hardware, LG is also emphasizing user experience through its webOS smart TV platform, featuring personalized tools such as Voice ID, AI Picture and Sound Wizard, and a customized “My Page” home screen.
